Gear I Use
The gear behind Outback Lens
The camera, drone, audio and field gear I use to make Outback Lens videos, photography and travel stories.
Gear I actually use or would genuinely consider
This is not a giant shopping list of random products. It is the gear I use for Outback Lens, plus the kind of practical kit I would genuinely look at for photography, filming, camping, travel and outdoor life.
Camera Gear
The core camera setup I use for Outback Lens photography, YouTube videos, talking to camera, low light work, landscapes and everyday storytelling.

DJI Osmo Action 4
The camera I use for most of my everyday filming, talking to camera, farm jobs, travel moments, quick handheld clips and rougher situations where I do not want to risk the main camera. This will probably change soon when I add the DJI Pocket 4, but for now it is one of the most used pieces of gear in the kit.

Canon R6 Body
My main camera body for photography and higher quality video. Great image quality, strong low light performance and reliable for the kind of outdoor work I do.

Canon RF 24-240mm
A super useful travel and everyday lens when I want one lens that can cover wide scenes, details and quick moments without changing gear.

Canon RF 100-400mm
A lightweight telephoto lens for wildlife, distant landscapes, compression shots and those moments where I want extra reach without carrying a massive lens.

Sigma Art 24mm f/1.4
A beautiful wide prime for low light, astro, environmental portraits and cinematic detail shots. It is not the smallest lens, but it has a proper look to it.

The aerial setup I use for landscapes, waterfalls, camps, farm views and those bigger establishing shots that help tell the story properly.

DJI Air 3S
My drone setup for aerial footage, landscapes, waterfalls, camps and those bigger establishing shots that help tell the story properly.

Audio matters more than most people think. These are the small mic setups I use or keep around for talking pieces, interviews and simple creator work.
DJI Mini Mic
Small wireless audio setup for YouTube filming, talking pieces and travel content where I need clean sound without carrying a heap of gear.
Neewer CM28 Wireless Mic Kit
A budget-friendly wireless mic kit I use when I need a second audio option or want something simple for farm and creator work.
Travel & Field Gear
The practical bits that make filming, camping and travelling easier. This section will keep evolving as we move toward lighter travel with the baby.
Tripods and small supports
Useful for filming solo, timelapses, night sky shots, long exposures and keeping things steady when I am out in the field.
Power gear for travel and camping
Power banks, charging gear, batteries and solar gear make a massive difference when we are camping, travelling or working away from normal power.
Lightweight travel setup
As Outback Lens moves toward more travel with Abbi and the baby, I am slowly cutting down the kit to what actually earns its place in the bag.
A quick note on buying used gear
eBay can be a solid place to find used camera, drone and outdoor gear, but always check the seller rating, item condition, included accessories, shutter count where relevant, warranty details and return policy before buying.
